Hataarindai Bataasindai Lyrics — English Translation & Meaning
Where are you, and in what form? Losing yourself in which thought, in which word of which song are you finding yourself again? I have been sitting here waiting, carrying this love of mine to give to you Where am I to come, my love? Hurrying, wind-blown Ho oh, ho oh oh... Ho ho... The title of our story, yours and mine, has already become "patience" Without my ever having seen you, your face has already come to live in my eyes my love With the embers of winter your arrival has been kindled To be suffocated inside this very love — what a madness this is of ours With the embers of winter your arrival has been kindled To be suffocated inside this very love — what a madness this is of ours Where are you, and in what form? Losing yourself in which thought, in which word of which song are you finding yourself again? I have been sitting here waiting, carrying that love of yours to give to me I am on my way, my love — where are you? Hurrying, wind-blown...

About "Hataarindai Bataasindai" by Sajjan Raj Vaidya
The title pairs two present participles — hataarindai, hurrying, and bataasindai, being blown about by the wind — and the combination describes the song's whole condition: urgent movement with no control over direction.
What makes this one unusual among Vaidya's love songs is that the beloved has never been met. The line is explicit: without ever having seen you, your face has already come to live in my eyes. The opening questions are not asking where a departed lover went; they are asking where an unmet person currently is, and in what form, and inside which thought or song she might be recognising herself. It is a song addressed to someone who does not yet know they are being addressed.
The image that gives the song its best joke and its best sadness is the title of the story. "Sirsak dhairya bani sakecha" — the title of our story has already become patience. Before anything happened, before a meeting, the defining feature of the relationship is waiting.
The winter embers are the sharpest piece of writing. Sisira is the cold season, and an aangaar is a live coal; her arrival has been kindled from the embers of the coldest time. And the song is honest that this may be a bad idea, calling it pagalpan, madness, and describing the sensation as suffocation rather than warmth. The last verse reverses the direction — he stops waiting and starts moving, still without knowing where.
