Ram Aayenge Lyrics — English Translation & Meaning

The fortunes of my little hut

will open up today — Ram is coming
The fortunes of my little hut
will open up today — Ram is coming
Ram is coming, he is coming,
Ram is coming

Ram is coming, he is coming,
Ram is coming
The fortunes of my little hut
will open up today — Ram is coming
The fortunes of my little hut

will open up today — Ram is coming
When Ram comes I will decorate the courtyard
I will light the lamps and keep Diwali
When Ram comes I will decorate the courtyard
I will light the lamps and keep Diwali

All the sins of all my births
will be wiped away — Ram is coming
The fortunes of my little hut
will open up today — Ram is coming
When Ram swings, I will rock the cradle

I will sing him sweet, sweet hymns
When Ram swings, I will rock the cradle
I will sing him sweet, sweet hymns
All the sorrows of my life
will be wiped away — Ram is coming

The fortunes of my little hut
will open up today — Ram is coming
I will make offerings prepared with love
I will feed Ram butter and rock sugar
Oh, I will make offerings prepared with love
I will feed Ram butter and rock sugar
Beloved Radha

will come along with beloved Shyam
Ram is coming
Ram is coming, he is coming,
Ram is coming
Ram is coming, he is coming,
Ram is coming

The fortunes of my little hut
will open up today — Ram is coming
The fortunes of my little hut
will open up today — Ram is coming

About "Ram Aayenge" by Swati Misha

"Ram Aayenge" became inescapable in India in early 2024, in the weeks around the consecration of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, and Swati Mishra's recording is the version that carried it. Its power comes from scale — specifically, from how small it keeps everything.

The devotee in this bhajan does not describe a temple, a procession, or a kingdom. She describes a jhopdi, a hut, and says its luck is about to turn. Everything she promises to do is domestic and modest: sweep and decorate the courtyard, light lamps, rock a cradle, sing simple hymns, prepare butter and rock sugar. The theology of the song is that the divine arrives in an ordinary house and is looked after the way you would look after a child.

That maternal framing — Ram in a cradle rather than Ram with a bow — is what separates this from martial devotional music. The relationship being described is vatsalya bhava, the devotional mode of loving God as one's own infant, and it shapes every image in the song.

The two things promised in return are stated plainly: the sins of many lifetimes erased, and the sorrows of this life erased. Placed against the humility of the setting, the exchange is the whole appeal — nothing is required of the devotee except that she make the house ready.
