Lyrics

Ho Munda Hunda
Dhuppan Vich Tan Kudiye
Ni Tu Kade Laye Nahio
Ankhiyan Ton Shade
Aithe Jatt Paani Vi Ni

Paunda Sohniye
Tainu Teri Daaru Ch
Pasand Ae Lemonade
Ho Munda Hunda
Dhuppan Vich Tan Kudiye

Ni Tu Kade Laye Nahio
Ankhiyan Ton Shade
Aithe Jatt Paani Vi Ni
Paunda Sohniye
Tainu Teri Daaru Ch

Pasand Ae Lemonade
Kudi Jivein Nikli Ae
Kise Romantic Gaane Chon
Tu Labhdi Ae Snapchat
Te Munda Labhe Thane Chon

Main Te Karaan Avoid Kudi Nu
Oh Mangdi Mera Phone Ae
Sadde Putthe Kamm Sohniye
24 Ghante On Ae
Ho Jadon Dekhe

Jatta De Subaah Athre
Tere Love Sove
Saare Ho Jaane Aa Fade
Aithe Jatt Paani Vi Ni
Paunda Sohniye

Tainu Teri Daaru Ch
Pasand Ae Lemonade
Ho Munda Hunda
Dhuppan Vich Tan Kudiye
Ni Tu Kade Laye Nahio

Ankhiyan Ton Shade
Aithe Jatt Paani Vi Ni
Paunda Sohniye
Tainu Teri Daaru Ch
Pasand Ae Lemonade

Ho Munda Hunda
Dhuppan Vich Tan Kudiye
Ni Tu Kade Laye Nahio
Ankhiyan Ton Shade
Aithe Jatt Paani Vi Ni
Paunda Sohniye

Tainu Teri Daaru Ch
Pasand Ae Lemonade
Turri Jaandi Nu Main
Aawaaz Maarke Saddh Leya
Bitha Liya Vich Gaddi De

Puchheya Kithe Chhadd Deyan
Sangdi Sangdi Ne
Ohne Hatha Naa Munh Kajj Leya
Main Keha Chalde Aa Ni
Yacht Private Ajj Leya
Ho Kade Billo Sea Side

Kade Jet Te
Kithe Ni Tu Samjhegi
Jatta De Trade
Aithe Jatt Paani Vi Ni
Paunda Sohniye
Tainu Teri Daaru Ch

Pasand Ae Lemonade
Ho Munda Hunda
Dhuppan Vich Tan Kudiye
Ni Tu Kade Laye Nahio
Ankhiyan Ton Shade

Aithe Jatt Paani Vi Ni
Paunda Sohniye
Tainu Teri Daaru Ch
Pasand Ae Lemonade

Lemonade Lyrics — English Translation & Meaning

The boy's body has gone dark out in the sun, girl,
but you have never once
taken the shade off your eyes
Here the Jatt does not even drink water,

beautiful —
in your liquor
you like lemonade
The boy's body has gone dark out in the sun, girl,

and you have never once
taken the shade off your eyes
Here the Jatt does not even drink water,
beautiful —
in your liquor

you like lemonade
The girl looks as if she stepped
straight out of some romantic song
You are found on Snapchat
and the boy is found down at the police station

I try to avoid the girl —
she keeps asking for my phone
Our crooked business, beautiful,
runs twenty-four hours a day
And the moment she sees

the stubborn temper of Jatts,
all your loves and the rest of it
get caught out
Here the Jatt does not even drink water,
beautiful —

in your liquor
you like lemonade
The boy's body has gone dark out in the sun, girl,
and you have never once
taken the shade off your eyes

Here the Jatt does not even drink water, beautiful —
in your liquor you like lemonade
As she walked past I called out and stopped her,
sat her down in the car,
asked her where shall I drop you

All shy, embarrassed,
she covered her face with her hands
I said, come on, let's go —
I have taken a private yacht today
Sometimes the seaside, Billo,

sometimes on a jet
You will never understand
the trade the Jatts are in
Here the Jatt does not even drink water, beautiful —
in your liquor you like lemonade

The boy's body has gone dark out in the sun, girl,
and you have never once
taken the shade off your eyes
Here the Jatt does not even drink water, beautiful —
in your liquor you like lemonade

About "Lemonade" by Diljit Dosanjh

"Lemonade" is a class joke told through drinks. The Jatt of the song takes his liquor neat — he will not even add water to it — while the girl he is pursuing waters hers down with lemonade. Two people at the same table, drinking the same thing differently, and the whole song is built on that gap.

The contrast is then drawn out everywhere else. He has worked outdoors and gone dark in the sun; she has never taken her sunglasses off. She is found on Snapchat; he is found down at the police station. She looks like she stepped out of a romantic song; his business runs around the clock and is, as the lyric puts it plainly, crooked. He is not apologising for any of this. He is listing it.

The second half then escalates into pure Punjabi-pop flex — the car, the private yacht, the jet, the seaside — and closes each time on the same line: you will never understand the trade the Jatts are in. The boasting and the resentment are the same gesture. He wants her to be impressed and he is fairly sure she cannot be.

Written by Raj Ranjodh for Diljit Dosanjh, it is a good example of why his records travel: the swagger is genuinely funny rather than merely loud, and the joke survives not speaking Punjabi.
